Database Presales Engineer

Location : Selangor, Malaysia

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and customer-focused Database Presales Engineer to support the growth of Kingbase , a leading enterprise relational database platform. You will play a key role in the pre-sales lifecycle by working closely with distributor Enzo Plus, channel partners, and customers to design database solutions, conduct technical presentations, perform Proof of Concept (POC), and provide technical consultation throughout the sales process.

This role is ideal for individuals with strong database knowledge who enjoy solution consulting, customer engagement, and helping organizations modernize their database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

⁠Provide pre-sales technical support, including solution presentations, technical discussions, product demonstrations, and Proof of Concept (POC)
⁠Understand customer business and technical requirements, and recommend suitable database solutions and architectures.
Design solution proposals, technical documentation, sizing recommendations, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
⁠Conduct technical workshops, product enablement sessions, and partner/customer training.
⁠Support RFP/RFQ responses, technical questionnaires, and proposal preparation.
⁠Work closely with the Sales team throughout the sales cycle to qualify opportunities and address technical requirements.
⁠Provide technical consultation on database migration, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and performance optimization strategies.
⁠Support deployment, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post-sales knowledge transfer when required.
⁠Maintain technical knowledge of the company’s products and competitive technologies.

Requirements

⁠Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Presales, Solution Consulting, Database Administration, or related roles.
⁠Strong knowledge of relational databases, database architecture, and SQL.
⁠Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or other enterprise databases.
⁠Familiar with Linux/Unix operating systems and Shell scripting.
⁠Good understanding of HA, replication, backup & recovery, database security, and migration concepts.
⁠Excellent presentation, communication, and customer engagement skills.
⁠Experience supporting POCs, solution demonstrations, and technical workshops is preferred.
⁠Willing to travel for customer and partner engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

⁠Experience in database migration between heterogeneous database platforms.
Knowledge of database performance tuning and SQL optimization.
Familiarity with enterprise application environments, virtualization, cloud platforms, or container technologies.
Database-related certifications (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) are an added advantage.
Experience working with system integrators, technology vendors, or value-added distributors is preferred.
